Important! Sharing the Use of Professional Terminology in PCB Industry

March 22, 2021

Under the sharing of SEPRAYS Branch Computer, the use and interpretation of professional terms in PCB industry are elaborated from the introduction of PCB board to four aspects: PCB board technology, PCB drilling and PCB design. If there are different opinions, we can also contact SEPRAYS PCB Branch Computer to discuss together.

Introduction of PCB Board

These guidelines list best practices for reducing the cost of circuit boards and minimizing the risk of errors in manufacturing. Not all possible PCB design functions can be used for all of our services. Check out our service overview for more details. In some specific functions, we emphasize availability in specific services.

The world is divided into parts that work with the metric system and parts that define measurements with the imperial system. "Micron" is 25.4 times smaller than "Mil". Electronic products have been shrinking in size. In order to ensure the highest quality, we decided many years ago to specialize in the metric system at the front end. Therefore, all measurements given in this document and on our website are based on metric systems. The values of all empires are purely for clarification and general understanding.

There is no general consensus on terms in the global PCB industry, so if we feel that any term we use may not be clear, we try to explain it when it first appears.

Input data format

The acceptable data format for PCB layout data is:

PCB board technology:

timg (1)

Gerber version 2 (or Gerber X2) or Gerber version 1 (or Geber X1). All Gerber specifications come from the Ucamco NV owner's format.

DPF (Dynamic Process Format - Developed by Ucamco NV)

Eagle. BRD file (from CAD software now Premier Farnell's CAD data)

The process means all copper layers, solder resistance layers and illustration layers, circuit board contours or mechanical layers, SMD solder paste layers, carbon layers, peeling layers, etc.

PCB drilling:

Excellon (1 or 2) + Appropriate Tool List (Ideal Embedding)

Sieb & Meyer + Appropriate Tool List (Ideal Embedding)

Gerber format (only real drilling data, not drilling maps)

DPF (only real drilling data, not drilling maps).

Use and Interpretation of Professional Terminology in PCB Industry

Important:

Please provide only ASCII-encoded files. These files are readable so that our engineers can check them intuitively as needed during data preparation. So we don't accept EIA or EBCDIC formats. We prefer Gerber X2.

We do not accept native CAD PCB design data other than EAGLE or KiCAD.

1. Converting CAD data to production data may lead to errors, and we cannot cross-check. 2. Lawful copies of each CAD PCB design package can not be obtained in the market, and the necessary knowledge to use them correctly can not be obtained. Because designers don't all use the same software version, we also need a whole set of update patches.

Gerber is clear and clear. For many years, it has been the industry standard format for PCB manufacturing. Each PCB design package can output Gerber data, which will be fully described in your CAD PCB design package manual or help file.
